When PCMC couldn’t reach a supplier to replace gears for a medical supply customer desperately trying to prevent a machine failure, PCMC’s own internal team manufactured the parts and got them to the customer the next day!

“We are currently producing 6 days a week to help support the national supply chain for food. These are unprecedented times we all are enduring and the relationships we have with our customers and suppliers like PSA have proven instrumental to us being able to produce and deliver our products to the nation.”
“I am writing to thank you for the opportunity and flexibility for David to work from home during this very worrisome time.
I have been “sheltering in place” as I am considered one of those at-risk individuals: over the age of 60 with ongoing health issues. I depend very much on David, and while he is very dedicated to his job, the risk of him bringing something home which may affect him nominally could have a very high or even lethal effect on me.
I understand that we are all trying to deal with things as best we can, given the limited and often conflicting information provided. Your kindness and understanding in this regard is greatly appreciated.”
Heeding the call for surgical masks, the Pneumatic Scale Angelus team in Waterloo, Canada found an unopened box in their vending machine and sent it to a local hospital. Upon discovering a partial box in their safety cabinet, they sent it to a local veterinarian with surgeries to perform but no supply of masks. Search your supply areas in case you can spare some of the vitally needed PPE (personal protective equipment).
When a part could not be gotten from a subcontractor that had shut down due to the COVID-19 crisis, assembler Gérard Philippe, of PSA/Hema in Quimper, France, stepped in to make the modification. He had to do a special welding on stainless steel that he’s not used to do but he managed it very well! Thanks to Gérard, time was not wasted, and assembling could move forward.

According to Stanford professor, Dr. James Doty, the timing for being kind to others couldn’t be greater – because it happens to have a profoundly positive impact on our own well-being. His research proves that “being kind positively impacts our own physical and mental health. Showing others compassion or acting kind can actually change our physiology by taking our brain that’s been overtaken by a ‘threat mode’ and returning it to its natural, calm and effective state.” Ironically, through our own kindness, we take ourselves out of our own fears which helps us process information more clearly and make better leadership choices.
